The Tarn is where the Mediterranean and Atlantic climates meet. It is drier than Aquitaine and Dordorgne and not as fiercely hot at Languedoc and Provence can be.
According to the Albi Tourist Office data, May-October rainfall averages 63mm a month. The rain mostly falls in short sharp bursts, usually at night. Average maximum day-time temperatures vary between 20/25C in May and early October and 28/32C in July and August. Locals say mid-May to end June is their favourite time of year in the Tarn.
