Ian and Jocelyn Bryant's self-catering gites in the Southern Tarn are convenient for Toulouse Albi & Carcassonne.

La Bastide is our home where we live year-round on the edge of the property, out of your way but on hand when you need us. Originally a 17thC farmhouse, La Bastide stands in 4.5 hectares of meadows and maquis in a peaceful valley in the hills of the Pays de Cocagne. The Tarn is an unspoiled area of Southern France lying between Toulouse, Carcassonne and Albi and especially convenient for fly-drive holiday makers looking for gites within easy reach of airports served by low cost airlines.

We have arranged La Bastide as three fully equipped self-catering gites: The Farmhouse, The Grange and The Cottage.
Each has access to the large swimming pool protected by a legally approved child-proof enclosure (much safer than a submerged alarm).
They can be rented individually, or the Farmhouse gite and Grange gite linked together to make one large holiday house, or the whole property - ideal for a larger family reunion.

Why choose the Tarn?

The Tarn is where the Mediterranean and Atlantic climates meet. Its equitable climate is drier than the Dordogne and not as fiercely hot as Provence. You will find far fewer English residents here than in the Dordogne. Stay in a Tarn gite and you’ll be living in a traditional corner of the South of France.

Experienced gite renters know the advantage of booking with owners who live nearby. We can deal with late arrivals, advise on doctors restaurants local services and activities, and respond promptly to any problems. We have a Broadband Internet connection and guests can access this via WiFi.

We provide a free 'Welcome Pack' of tea coffee milk sugar bread jam butter eggs biscuits condiments water beer and wine. We will do a shop for guests expecting to arrive after the supermarkets have closed or prepare a three course supper and leave it in your gite. Jos who had a rosette and red star from the AA at our last hotel in England will also prepare supper for special occasions.

Low cost flights to our area

Low cost flights to France from 14 airports in UK and Ireland make it easy to tailor-make your own fly-drive gite holiday. Easyjet, Jet2, Flybe and bmibaby fly to Toulouse (an hour's drive) and Ryanair to Carcassonne (1 1/4 hrs). Remember to book early for the lowest airfares, especially on Easyjet to Toulouse and Ryanair to Carcassonne.
